On August 16, 2025, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) emerged victorious in the Shadow Parliament Debate organized by ATN Bangla on “Ensuring Fair Elections: The Role of the Election Commission.” Representing the government side, BUBT defeated the opposition team from Sir Salimullah Medical College in a highly competitive and engaging debate.

The debate focused on the topic: “The Role of the Election Commission is Crucial to Ensuring a Free and Fair National Parliamentary Election.” The event featured Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Chief of the Election System Reform Commission, Secretary of Citizens for Good Governance (Sujan), and a distinguished expert on elections and local government, as the Chief Guest.

Following this remarkable achievement, members of the BUBT Debating Club paid a courtesy visit to BUBT Vice Chancellor, Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, on August 17, 2025. Congratulating the team, the Vice Chancellor praised the club for consistently bringing honor and recognition to the university through their outstanding performances.

The meeting was also attended by the Chief Moderator of the Debating Club and Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, Professor Dr. Syed Masud Husain, along with other prominent faculty members and student leaders. Professor Dr. Masud Husain commended the club members for their dedication, discipline, and exemplary debating skills, encouraging them to continue excelling in future competitions.

This achievement marks another milestone in BUBT Debating Club’s history of fostering intellectual engagement and upholding the university’s reputation in national-level competitions.
