On August 6, 2025, a successful interactive session titled “Mental Health Awareness and Well-Being” was held at the International Conference Hall of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). The event was organized as part of BUBT’s “R U OK!” initiative.

The primary objective of the session was to raise awareness about mental health, foster an empathetic and supportive environment, and encourage open dialogue among teachers, students, officers, and staff members.

The keynote speaker of the session was Professor Dr. Mohammad Mahmudur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor of the International University of Business Agriculture and Technology (IUBAT). He elaborated on the importance of mental health awareness, necessary actions, and the impact of mental well-being on our personal and professional lives. In his remarks, he stated, “Preserving mental well-being is not only a personal responsibility but also an institutional and collective duty. A compassionate society can only be built through everyone's participation.”

The session was presided over by Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, Honorable Vice Chancellor of BUBT. In his speech, he emphasized, “BUBT is always committed to the overall well-being and welfare of its teachers, students, officers, and staff. Such initiatives play a crucial role in enhancing mental resilience and stability.”

The closing remarks were delivered by mental health counselor Arafat Azad Ava, who said, “Creating a space for open discussions and fostering empathy around mental health is the key to our collective well-being.”

Faculty members, students, officers, and staff of BUBT actively participated in the session and engaged in constructive discussions and exchanges of views on mental well-being.

The university authorities expressed hope that such awareness programs will continue in the future and help create a positive environment regarding mental health.
