A thought-provoking seminar titled "Empowering Youth: Engaging & Inspiring Youth in Banking" was held on July 23, 2025, at the International Conference Hall of Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT). Organized by the Career Guidance and Counseling office of BUBT, the event brought together banking professionals, academic leaders, and enthusiastic students to explore the future of youth involvement in the banking sector.
The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor of BUBT, Prof. Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, graced the event as the chief guest. In his insightful address, he underscored the need for greater transparency and accountability in Bangladesh’s banking sector. He emphasized the potential of Blockchain technology to ensure integrity and reduce irregularities in financial transactions.
Mr. M M Mahbub Hasan, Senior Vice President and Head of Financial Inclusion & School Banking, Consumer & SME Banking Division, Prime Bank PLC, delivered a powerful speech encouraging students to view banking not just as a career but as a platform for social impact. He spoke about Prime Bank’s initiatives to bring unbanked populations under the formal financial umbrella and urged the students to become advocates of inclusive banking.
Prof. Santi Narayan Ghosh, Director of IQAC and BRIC, BUBT, emphasized the importance of creating a bridge between academia and the banking sector. Professor Dr. Syed Masud Husain, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, BUBT, graced the event as the special guest, In his speech, he stated, To excel in the banking profession, one must have integrity, analytical thinking, and communication skills. I am proud to say that our students are well-equipped with these qualities.
Ms. Shaila Abedin, Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Liability, Consumer & SME Banking Division, Prime Bank PLC, inspired the students by sharing her journey in the banking industry.
As the welcome speaker, A.B.M. Mesbahul Hasan, Deputy Director of BRIC at BUBT, expressed his gratitude to the distinguished guests and emphasized the university’s unwavering commitment to preparing students for professional excellence.
The seminar witnessed active participation from students who posed questions to the speakers and expressed interest in pursuing careers in banking and financial services. The event served as an inspiring platform for the students of BUBT.
