Bangladesh University of Business and Technology (BUBT) observed July Martyrs’ Day 2025 on July 16 with solemnity and deep respect. On this occasion, a discussion session and a special prayer were held at the university’s International Conference Hall.

Mr. Zahed Ur Rahman, a respected teacher, analyst, and activist, attended the program as the Chief Guest. In his speech, he paid deep tribute to Shaheed Abu Sayed and all the martyrs of the July Uprising. He emphasized the courage and leadership of the student protesters and highlighted the significant contributions of various educational institutions, including private universities, in the movement. “The students who took part in and led the uprising created a historic legacy,” he remarked.

The Special Guest, Professor Dr. A B M Shawkat Ali, Honorable Vice Chancellor of BUBT, reflected on the sacrifices made during the July Uprising. Referring to the two martyred BUBT students, Shaheed Sujan Mahmud and Shaheed Tahmid Abdullah, he said, “Their bravery and patriotism left an unforgettable mark on both the BUBT family and the nation. It is our moral duty to uphold and embody the ideals for which they sacrificed their lives.”

The session was chaired by Dr. Md. Zakir Hosain, Associate Professor of the Department of Finance and Convener of the July Uprising Reawakening Celebration Committee at BUBT. In his remarks, he stated, “We organized this event to honor the sacrifice of the martyrs and to inspire the new generation with their legacy. Understanding history is crucial for nurturing responsible citizens.”

Following the discussion, a prayer session was held in memory of the martyrs. The event concluded in a solemn and emotional atmosphere with the participation of BUBT faculty members, officers, staff, and a large number of students.
